Brazilian Butt Lift

Enhance Your Silhouette with New Curves

Brazilian Butt Lift model

An increasingly popular cosmetic surgery procedure at our Birmingham, Alabama practice, and one of the fastest growing in the country, is the Brazilian Butt Lift. This procedure uses your own natural fat to create a more plump and rounded backside. Just the name itself brings to mind pictures of attractive women in swimsuits strolling along the famous beaches of Rio de Janeiro.

The Brazilian Butt Lift is designed to enhance the entire silhouette of the body with eye-catching new curves. First, fat from donor areas such as the abdomen, flanks, hips, thighs and lower back is harvested with liposuction. The donor fat is then processed and purified before being injected into the buttocks. This "2 for 1" body contouring procedure is ideal for people who are dissatisfied with the size and shape of their rear end and would like to reduce areas of fat around the midsection.

Brazilian Butt Lift Uses Your Own Natural Fat

They key to the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure is the use of your own fat to sculpt a fuller, perkier butt that looks and feels completely natural. This technique ensures that the transferred fat will not be rejected by the body. The majority of the fat becomes viable living tissue that forms a curvier rear end with greater projection.

Ideal candidates for the Brazilian Butt Lift are men and women who are close to their ideal weight but have some excess fat in the abdomen, flanks, hips, thighs and other areas that is unresponsive to diet and exercise. Buttock Implants may be a better choice for patients who lack sufficient donor fat for the Brazilian Butt Lift.

Brazilian Butt Lift at Hedden & Gunn Plastic Surgery

Our Birmingham, Alabama cosmetic surgeons have a high rate of patient satisfaction with the Brazilian Butt Lift, a cosmetic surgery procedure that eliminates unwanted fat with liposuction and enhances the shape of your buttocks with fat transfer. Premier surgeons William Hedden MD, Stephen Gunn MD and Joshua Halka MD strive to help our patients achieve a more rounded, pleasing body profile by adding fullness and volume with permanent results.

General anesthesia is used for most patients during the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure. During the liposuction phase, Dr. Hedden inserts a thin hollow tube (a cannula) through a series of small incisions. A surgical vacuum or syringe attached to the cannula is then used to suction fat from the body.

The liposuctioned fat undergoes a purifying process to remove excess fluids before being injected into the buttocks. Small amounts of fat are injected at varying depths to ensure that the highest possible amount of fat is absorbed.

After the surgery, patients should not sit directly on their buttocks for about 3 weeks and may be asked to wear a compression garment to optimize the final results and increase the rate of healing. Most patients can resume non-strenuous work in a week or two and carry on with most normal activities within about 3 weeks. Exercise and strenuous activity should be avoided for up to 6 weeks.

Final results ware usually observed after about 6 months. Brazilian Butt Lift results are permanent and can be maintained going forward with appropriate diet and exercise.

Risks & Possible Complications

Any surgical procedure carries some degree of risk, including infections, bleeding and allergic reaction to anesthesia. The rate of complications with the Brazilian Butt Lift is very low because your own fat is used for injection into the buttocks and due to the skills and experience of the plastic surgeons at Hedden & Gunn Plastic Surgery. It is very important that you follow all of your surgeon's postoperative instructions to reduce your risk for developing any complications.
